Webinar now available On-Demand.

Program Length: 1 hour

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Learn the basics about the RCRA universal waste regulations, including how to classify, store & prepare universal waste for off-site shipment and how to respond to releases with this webinar.

Did you know you can reduce your hazardous waste requirements and costs by managing fluorescent lamps, batteries, aerosol cans, mercury-containing equipment, and pesticides as universal wastes?

Yes, these wastes are hazardous, but the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) rules allow these commonly generated wastes to be managed and recycled under the less cumbersome and costly “universal waste” regulations. A subset of the hazardous waste regulations, universal waste rules provide more flexibility and less stringent management options for these hazardous wastes that are generated by many different types and sizes of businesses.

Join expert Karen D. Hamel on July 21, to learn the basics about the RCRA universal waste regulations, so you know how to classify, store, and prepare universal waste for off-site shipment and how to respond to releases. In addition, this webinar will highlight the approximately 20 states that are authorized to manage universal wastes that are in addition to those regulated under the federal rules. Did your state make the list?

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Determine if your hazardous wastes can be managed as a universal waste.
  • Understand how to label, store, and ship universal wastes.
  • Implement a plan to ensure that you are complying with universal waste regulations.
  • Recognize the common universal waste management mistakes that result in costly violations.
  • Identify the hazardous wastes that your state regulates as universal wastes.
