Transporting Hazardous Materials: Shipping Limited Quantities and Consumer Commodities - On-Demand

Webinar now available On-Demand.

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Whether you’re just starting to transport hazardous materials, have been in the business for a long time, or only ship hazardous materials on an infrequent basis, join this webinar to ensure that your program is in full compliance.

If your organization is involved in the transportation of hazardous materials, whether routinely, periodically, or infrequently, it’s imperative that you clearly understand the regulations that apply to types and quantities of materials that your organization is shipping. Even when limited, small, or consumer commodities are involved, you must be well-versed in the applicable rules, to ensure that the transportation of hazardous materials is being performed correctly, to protect the safety of both employees and the general public.

The first step in the process is to consider if the materials you are shipping are considered regulated hazardous materials; then you must identify the employees that must be trained to handle them, what that training includes, and how often it needs to be provided. Some of these things are not specified by the DOT, which means you must evaluate what will be most effective for your organization. With that, while certification and licensing may not be required, all recordkeeping requirements have to be fully addressed. This is key to assure compliance if an inspection ever occurs.

If hazardous materials transportation is not your core business, some organizations outsource this activity to companies who will ship these materials for them. For many organizations this is a great way to control costs for your organization, while still maintaining and assuring compliance.

Use this on-demand webinar when Anthony Morreale, Co-Owner and Senior Consultant at Tri-State Safety Solutions, will address the most important regulations associated with transporting hazardous materials and discuss strategies and best practices for shipping these materials, both as small or limited quantities and as consumer products.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Evaluate the DOT hazardous materials regulations as they apply to your organization
  • Determine what is considered a hazardous material and the requirements for various forms of transportation, including air, rail, and road
  • Assess training best practices
  • Determine if your administrative and documentation procedures are compliant
  • Evaluate the costs and benefits of outsourcing your company’s transportation of hazardous materials
