OSHA's Top 10 Violations: Strategies for Avoiding the Most Common Citations - On-Demand

Webinar now available On-Demand.

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: You’ll learn how and why OSHA tends to cite the same 10 types of violations year in and year out.

Every Fall, OSHA releases its list of the ten most frequently violated standards—the pain points that trip employers up time and time again. Are some or all of these common safety deficiencies present at your facility?  Have you been cited for similar violations in the past and are concerned you may still be at risk for similar violations in the future?

From fall protection and hazard communication to respiratory protection and machine guarding, the items on the list remain largely consistent from year to year, indicating that employers continue to struggle with the same hazards. But by taking the time to understand these common missteps and correcting any areas where your safety program comes up short, you can dramatically reduce your risk of costly citations, including repeat citations, and fines.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the standards on OSHA’s Top 10 Violations list that may apply to your workplace and the most common compliance missteps associated with each one
  • Determine the top citation risks in your industry segment, including whether OSHA is conducting programmed inspections in your area that could result in a knock at the door even if there has not been an incident at or complaint about your operations.
  • Understand how and why OSHA issues Repeat citations and what you can do to avoid them.
  • Learn how to proactively address compliance deficiencies to prevent citations and fines.
  • Evaluate options, including and beyond pizza parties, available for incentivizing safe behaviors and punishing safety violations.
