Safety Culture Essentials: Effective Strategies for Gaining Buy-in and Boosting Safety Success - On-Demand

Webinar now available On-Demand.

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: This webinar will highlight the importance of taking a more comprehensive approach and overview specific assessment and continuous improvement activities for building an ideal safety culture.

Traditional safety interventions tend to focus on the work environment: eliminating hazards, providing better tools and equipment, developing and enforcing safe procedures, and providing effective PPE. While these strategies play a key role in ensuring a safe workplace, many organizations have reached a plateau, finding that focusing safety efforts on these tangible interventions produces only marginal gains.

A work environment that minimizes, contains, or controls serious hazards should be a necessary precondition for any safety improvement process, but that is not enough. We need to also consider how safety is either supported or hindered by the safety culture, including the interaction of equipment, facilities, procedures, and people. The importance of creating an Actively Caring culture and how it relates to keeping everyone safe in these times of Covid-19 will also be emphasized.

This webinar will reveal effective strategies for taking a more comprehensive approach to safety and overview assessment and continuous improvement activities for the critical components of building an ideal safety culture.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the components of an ideal safety culture and recognize individual practices that support an ideal safety culture
  • Identify positive and negative system influences on the safety culture
  • Demonstrate caring and commitment to secure employee buy-in and trust
  • Promote personal responsibility and ownership of safety activities and understand how a focus on Actively Caring for ourselves and others is key to keeping everyone safe in the age of Covid-19.
  • Effectively set behavioral expectations and provide feedback for performance improvement
  • Describe how common safety culture assessment tools, including surveys, focus group interviews, safety systems assessments, and leadership behavior assessments can be used to identify and drive improvement opportunities.
