Session 1 - Enforcement, Violations, and Fines

No one wants to be the subject of an OSHA enforcement action. This session will help you recognize how and why your facility or operation becomes subject to an OSHA enforcement action. Identifying events or circumstances that may trigger an OSHA inspection, being prepared for that inspection, and recognizing the potential outcomes will help you successfully navigate the enforcement process.

Session 2 - Job Hazard Assessments and Exposure Monitoring

There are dangers in every workplace, both hidden and in plain sight. What’s the best way to manage and correct these hazards and keep your employees safe? In this session, we will go over the Job Hazard Analysis Editorial (JHA) process. This process can help you break down tasks into steps, identify hazards, and apply corrective actions to mitigate hazards.

Session 3 - Personal Protective Equipment: Assessments, Medical Clearance, and Fit Testing

In this session, we’ll cover the best practices around documentation relating to personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments, medical evaluations, and fit tests.

Session 4: Training

Are you providing the required training to your employees? Not only do you need to make sure your employees are trained, but you must also ensure that you can prove the training happened and that it met all the requirements in the applicable OSHA standard. This session will include a review of OSHA training requirements, including documentation requirements, the details of OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour programs, and OSHA’s stance on computer-based training.

We’ll wrap up the day by giving you the opportunity to get your specific questions answered by our expert presenter, who is well-versed in the complexities of OSHA recordkeeping and compliance, with clear instructions for adjusting your practices in light of the very latest legal developments.

Session 5 - OSHA's Part 1904 Recordkeeping and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses

Do you need to call OSHA after an injury or illness? What goes on the OSHA log, and what can be left off? These questions and more will be answered here. In this session, we will go into the detailed requirements for work-related injury and illness recordkeeping and reporting. We’ll review recordable injuries/illnesses, reporting timelines, posting requirements, and how to complete OSHA logs.

Session 6 – Documenting a Safe Workplace: Incidents Investigations, Audits, and Inspections

Used as the basis for numerous violations every year, the General Duty Clause requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards that can cause serious injury or illness. We’ll discuss some of the things that you can do to demonstrate compliance with OSHA’s General Duty Clause, including incident investigations, audits, and inspections.

Chip Darius is founder and president of Safety Priority Consultants, LLC, established in 2000. In 23 years the company has provided training and consulting to over 800 US and international client organizations in occupational safety & health, OSHA compliance, risk management and safety management systems. He is an experienced expert witness in safety-related legal matters. Chip has also served as safety advisor for the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.

Chip was recognized as 2022 Safety Professional of the Year by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut. He has been an Instructor for the OSHA Training Institute Region 1 Education Center (OTIEC) for 21 years, designing and teaching courses for safety professionals and OSHA officials in Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Safety Management Systems, Accident/Incident Investigation, General Industry and Construction Safety & Health Standards, Outreach Train the Trainer courses, and other topics.

Chip holds multiple safety and health certifications and certificates. He earned BS and MA degrees from the University of Connecticut, and has served as Adjunct Faculty to UConn, Post University, Keene State College, and Fitchburg State University. He is author of 3 guidebooks, and designer of more than 200 specialized courses in safety and trainer development.

He is an active member and has served multiple terms on the executive board of the American Society of Safety Professionals, Connecticut Valley chapter. Chip has presented on-site training, conference presentations, keynotes, and seminar programs in numerous states, Canadian provinces, and foreign countries. He is active on safety standards committees for the American National Standards Institute, National Floor Safety Institute, International Road Federation, and ASTM. Chip also serves as a committee member for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, National Occupational Research Agenda, Construction Sector Council and Public Safety Sector Council.

Chip has been a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for 43 years. He remains active as a volunteer EMT with Cromwell Fire Department, where he is also one of 9 elected Commissioners. He and his wife Marla, a registered nurse, have 5 children.

As a certified mine safety professional, Abrams provides consultation, safety audits and training services to MSHA and OSHA regulated companies.

Abrams is a regular columnist for numerous magazines on legal, employment, mine, and occupational safety/health issues, and is coauthor of several books related to mining, construction, employment law, and occupational safety and health.

She is a member of the Maryland, DC and Pennsylvania Bars, the U.S. District Courts of Maryland, DC and Tennessee, the U.S. Court of Appeals, DC, 3rd and 4th Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a graduate of the George Washington University’s National Law Center and earned her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.
