Cal/OSHA's Silica Standard: How to Control Employee Exposure and be in Compliance for Concrete and Masonry Operations - On-Demand

Webinar now available On-Demand.

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Use this on-demand webinar for a comprehensive look at Cal/OSHA’s silica standard and learn how to develop and implement a practical compliance strategy.

Employer obligations under the new respirable crystalline silica standard for construction commenced in June 2017. While Cal/OSHA began enforcing these obligations in September 2017, the Agency provided compliance assistance the first 30 days of enforcement to employers making good faith efforts to meet the requirements of the new rule. But now Cal/OSHA is fully enforcing all appropriate provisions of the standard, which includes a new permissible exposure limit (PEL) for respirable crystalline silica. With that, employers must continue to control employee exposures to dust created by operations conducted on concrete or masonry materials.

Use this on-demand webinar with speaker Alka Ramchandani, an experienced labor and employment attorney in the San Francisco office of Jackson Lewis. Since the silica standard has been litigated at the federal level, it’s important to keep a close watch on how the standard will unfold, and Alka will give the most up-to-date status on what is required- and when.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize the action level and permissible exposure limit and the dates for compliance in the affected industries including concrete and masonry
  • Compare the Federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA standards
  • Evaluate the regulation and requirements to understand how it will impact your organization
  • Explain the impact of the rule to your upper management
  • Identify the timeline for compliance and strategies for compliance in all areas
  • Implement best practices to “get ahead of the curve”
  • Interpret the recent silica litigation issues that you should be aware of
