Stormwater Management Programs: How to Integrate New Technologies to Improve Processes and Operations

Live Webinar: Wednesday, November 28, 2017

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern / 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Learn how to develop and implement a stormwater management program using new technology to meet your company’s compliance and practical needs.

Managing a facility’s stormwater management program can be challenging obligation. Hurdles come at every point in the process—from initial plan development, including identification of discharge points—to ensuring that the designed system can handle both typical and extraordinary storm events. Then there are inspections required to confirm that best management practices (BMPs) are in place and being maintained, obligations to collect and analyze samples, and requirements to maintain all necessary documentation, which is vital for meeting reporting requirements and answering questions posed by inspectors.

Fortunately, there are many new applications, software tools, and other technologies to help organizations more effectively manage stormwater.

Today there are technologies that address complicated stormwater plan design phases and can help environmental managers successfully navigate the permitting process, perform inspections, track work items to completion, and monitor and prepare for weather events. Some systems also directly interface with water monitoring equipment, capturing and storing data in real time—or even recording discharge data using a mobile device such as a smartphone. Calculation engines can simplify analysis of data, and built-in alert systems can flag you when recorded values of certain parameters fall outside of accepted ranges or approach permit limits. There are also solutions for simplifying reporting, either for internal purposes or for submission to regulatory agencies, which can greatly simplify management of required documentation and recordkeeping, and there is even a new technology that can help with planning and implementation of BMPs, conducting and documenting stormwater pathway inspections, and implementing and verifying completion of corrective actions./p>
