Lithium Batteries: Ensuring Safe, Efficient and Compliant Shipments Under the New Class 9 Label

Live Webinar: Thursday, June 14, 2018

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern / 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific

The rules on shipping lithium batteries change more frequently than those for any other kind of hazardous material. Just last January a new “lithium battery mark” and Class 9 Lithium battery label were introduced.

Lithium batteries are some of the more complicated hazardous materials to ship, and the rules on shipment vary depending on the battery type, the packaging configuration, and even the mode of transportation. Failure to properly prepare a lithium battery shipment can result in damaged packages that can result in fires or explosions. Such problems can lead to shipping delays, injury to persons and/or property, and significant agency fines. Proper training is key to understanding the differences and nuances involved in shipping lithium batteries – and is the first step in ensuring your lithium battery shipments are safe and compliant.

Join us on June 14th when Joel Gregier of Lion Technology will address all situations regarding the shipments of lithium batteries. This all-encompassing webinar will prepare employees to ship any type of lithium battery, whether it’s “fully regulated” or “excepted.” Registrants will come out of the webinar with a full knowledge as to how to ship lithium batteries and leave with an understand of all the new rulemakings that have come about in the past few years.

You’ll learn:

  • How to package lithium batteries safely and in compliance with the Class 9 Label
  • How to mark/label lithium battery packages
  • How to document lithium battery shipments correctly to avoid fines
  • The difference between “fully regulated” and “excepted” shipments
  • The latest regulations regarding lithium batteries and the shipping of units
  • General and security awareness issues for all hazardous materials
