Hazardous Waste or Not under RCRA: How to Find the Exclusions That Free Your Waste from Hazardous Waste Regulation

Live Webinar: Tuesday, December 20, 2018

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern / 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Learn how to identify and manage your hazardous waste materials and how to uncover the most useful yet confusing exclusions.

In May 2018, the “Definition of Solid Waste Rule” was revised which provides new exclusions in connection with recycling hazardous secondary materials. This is significant because businesses and organizations can reduce amounts of generated waste by paying closer attention to the new exclusions in addition to those available under current RCRA regulations. But, how can you tell what’s really excluded and what’s not?

The answer to that question requires you to navigate what can be a confusing and complex set of federal regulations. Fortunately, with comprehensive guidance on how the regulations apply to your everyday environmental operations, you’ll be in a far better position to obtain the correct answers to questions such as:

  • What constitutes a hazardous waste material?
  • When is something that has hazardous characteristics excluded from hazardous waste classification under federal regulations?
  • How and when would Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) apply?

Join us on December 20 when Gery Giannini, CET will answer these and other relevant hazardous waste determination questions.  Our speaker will discuss related issues, including the practical impact of the EPA’s Hazardous Waste strategy to promote conservation, substitution, waste reduction and recycling.

After attending the webinar, you will:

  • Know how to identify a hazardous waste material if:
    • It does not meet the standard definition of a solid waste
    • It is in process or in a storage tank
  • Understand when a waste is not considered hazardous even if it exhibits normal hazardous characteristics
  • Recognize which wastes are excluded from classification as hazardous wastes under federal regulations
  • Increase your ability to apply Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) correctly
  • Enhance your understanding of new RCRA regulations that may benefit Very Small Quantity or Small Quantity Generators and when these rules can reduce a generator’s monthly hazardous waste totals
  • Confidently address the process to remove waste materials from the RCRA hazardous waste list
