Front-Line Supervisors: How to Gain Buy-In and Develop Powerful Advocates of Your Safety Program

Live Webinar: Tuesday, December 19, 2017

1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern / 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Learn how focusing on front-line supervisors could be the key to a successful safety program for your organization that turns safety from a “have-to” to a “want-to”—and how to get the process started.

If most safety managers step back and seriously consider how their organization’s safety program is implemented, they will likely determine that the foundation is built with a strong emphasis of rule, procedure, and policy enforcement. While such a framework is important, if this is the only “structure” that is in place, the overall results may not be what is expected and wanted. Safety experts have determined that in order to improve and maintain safety performance, an additional component is required—for supervisors to truly buy-in to the safety program through safety coaching and become strong safety advocates.

But how is this done? The key is to tap into opportunities to motivate employees, through effective supervisor safety coaching, recognition, and honest communication. This results in front-line supervisors not only wanting to meet safety performance expectations—they may begin to even exceed them.

Join us on December 19 when Joe Keenen, Senior Safety Coordinator at C Spire, will provide a tested approach for coaching and guiding supervisors to help make them key advocates and participants in your organization’s safety program.

You’ll learn:

  • Traditional (and nontraditional) approaches for assisting supervisors with their responsibilities for safety performance
  • Effective approaches on how to step back and assess existing safety performance of both supervisors and employees
  • Why coaching will have better safety performance results over the long term vs. policing
  • The key parameters that must be addressed before you can effectively coach supervisors for better safety performance
  • How to develop and implement a program for your supervisors that helps them more effectively coach employees in safety and become true safety program advocates
