Effective Safety Inspections: How To Find – and Fix – Hazards Before They Find You

Conducting periodic safety inspections at your workplace may sound hopelessly old-school – but it works. The problem is that they often get put off and put off until an accident, near-miss, citation, or worker injury throws a spotlight on the shortcomings of your program.

Don’t wait for something to go wrong before you take a hard look at the effectiveness of your safety procedures and practices. This is one case where an ounce of prevention is worth far more than a pound of cure. Also, once you get in the habit of regular safety inspections, they become just part of your routine rather than a daunting special project.

Join us on February 20 for a webinar all about getting the safety inspection habit well-established at your workplace. You’ll learn:

  • How to best tailor the safety inspection process to specific operations, equipment, and facilities
  • The single most important factor in your safety inspection program
  • What OSHA says about safety inspections (and why you should pay attention)
  • Real-life best practices that have worked for other organizations
  • How to determine who should perform inspections
  • Why you may want to consider an interdepartmental approach rather than relying exclusively on the safety department
  • How frequent your inspections should be
  • Strategies for tracking results to closure, to ensure your program is not marginalized by lack of follow-through
  • The benefits of performing pre- and post-shift inspections
  • Different approaches for designing and fine-tuning your safety inspection checklists
  • How best to perform, document, and report inspection results in order to generate visibility
  • Effective strategies for garnering senior and middle management support for your inspection process
  • How to periodically “inspect” your inspection process to make sure you’re continually improving

This webinar will be recorded on Wednesday, February 27, 2013
