Depression and Other Mental Illness Under New ADA: Accommodation Practices for HR

Depression and Other Mental Illness Webinar Recording

One of your employees has been a bit down lately. She's been late the past few mornings, and you can see her work has been suffering. When you call her in your office to see how's she's doing, you find out her husband was laid off from his job last month. She reveals that she's been on anti-depression medication since her mom died last year, but her condition is getting worse. As her employer, what do you do? Do you reprimand her for her tardiness and inconsistent work? Or do you overlook those issues because of her medical condition? How is she protected by the ADA?

Employers are finding themselves asking these questions and more as they walk the line between being compassionate and making sure the work environment is safe, productive, and fair for all employees.

Participate in this interactive and timely webinar, and you'll learn:

  • How new ADA regulations have changed how you MUST accommodate employees with mental disabilities
  • Under what circumstances drug addiction qualifies as a mental disability
  • What to do if an employee presents a direct threat to himself or others
  • When you can discipline or terminate an employee with a mental disability
  • Strategies for helping employees with mental illness
  • When a job-protected leave of absence can be considered a reasonable accommodation
  • And much more...

In just 90 minutes, learn your obligations under the new ADA for reasonably accommodating employees with mental disabilities. Register now for this informative event.

This webinar will be recorded on Thursday, September 20, 2012
