Webinar now available On-Demand.

WEBINAR SNAPSHOT: Learn how to design, implement, and maintain a successful behavior-based safety program to minimize accidents in the workplace.

As a tool for reducing accidents, behavior based safety programs (BBS) have proven very successful, and thus have been a popular approach to workplace safety for several decades. BBS delivers value by providing a methodical strategy for looking closely at job performance using focused criteria to identify inherent and potential risks.

BBS focuses on minimizing incidents by analyzing – and taking action on – unsafe actions, which relates back to employee performance. And while observing employees to identify unsafe acts and human factor causes is critical, it’s also to broaden the spectrum and examine the safety-related actions of supervisors and management. For example, if employees are permitted to use unsafe shortcuts routinely or if PPE is not provided, the root cause of an unsafe act cause goes beyond employee behavior and must be addressed accordingly.

Use this on-demand webinar when Joe Keenan, Senior Safety Coordinator at C Spire, will provide a clear road map to achieve ongoing success with your BBS program by focusing on human factors. As an experienced safety professional, Mr. Keenan has been actively involved in developing and implementing effective behavior based safety programs that are well integrated with an organization’s business objectives and systems.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Realize that human factors are inherent in employee behaviors as well as those of supervision and management
  • Identify the common pitfalls that typically plague a BBS program, including misunderstanding unsafe conditions and unsafe acts
  • Consider how your organization can use BBS to identify all accident causes, including human factor related causes
  • Develop an action plan to address the common pitfalls in an existing BBS program or your existing safety culture
  • Assess proven strategies for your BBS rollout
  • Gain full management, supervisory, and employee support for implementation of your BBS program
