Mastering the ADA Interactive Process: Accommodation Answers for HR

Mastering the ADA Interactive Process Webinar Recording

The 2008 ADA Amendments Act dramatically expanded the defintion of disability under the ADA, and the 2010 regulations broadened it even more. As a result, HR professionals now face increasing accommodation requests from both employees and job applicants. Many of those requests wouldn't have even come close to being considered under the old ADA.

Since the ADAAA took effect, the EEOC has seen a huge increase in allegations of disability discrimination -- and most include claims that the employer failed to provide a reasonable accommodation.

Employers are required to engage in an “interactive process” with disabled employees to determine what reasonable accommodation, if any, will assist them in performing their job’s essential functions. Yet the EEOC provides no real-world advice on exactly what that means, and many employers overlook the topic until an accommodation request is staring them in the face. They can be even more unsure when it's an applicant who may need an accommodation.

For these reasons and others, it's absolutely crucial that you have a clear procedure in place for initiating and managing the interactive process for potentially disabled employees and applicants.

Participate in this interactive webinar, and you'll learn:

  • How and when to engage in the interactive process, and how to do so in a way that will pass muster with the EEOC
  • Strategies for handling drug and alcohol abuse and treatment scenarios
  • The flow of information to and from workers’ compensation and short-term disability administrators
  • What specific considerations to take into account when handling psychological and mental disabilities
  • Which accommodations are still considered reasonable in the eyes of the EEOC -- and which are not
  • How to handle accommodation “suggestions” that you receive from employees, their supervisors, and their doctors
  • And much more...

In just 90 minutes, you'll learn how to accommodate disabilities and manage the interactive process under new ADA regulations. Register now for this informative event risk-free.
